Fulda City Council Council notified of rate increases for Mediacom and Schaap Sanitation & Recycling Inc.

The Fulda City Council held the Truth in Taxation with no one from the public. The increase in tax was set at 5.6% in a previous meeting.

The regular council started at 6:30 p.m. with the Pledge of Allegiance and then opened the Public Forum portion of the meeting.

Neil Clarke was present to talk about the fire hall. He proposed a 80 x 140 foot building with two drive through garage bays plus three other garage bays. The plan would include bathrooms with showers, laundry and kitchen, locker room and office. The building would be wood construction with two stories in part of it. The cost of the project was stated as $895,000.

Mediacom notified the city there will be an increase for residents effective January 1.

  The council approved a cost of living increase of two percent for city employees. They also considered moving the step increases back to extend the current system.

Resolution 2018-12 was passed approving the Final 2019 Tax Levy. The General Fund $365,825 plus Library of $56,000 for a total of $421,825. The taxes will increase 5.6%.

Tobacco sales licenses were approved for Graff’s Liquor, Maynard’s of Fulda and Casey’s Retail Company

Schaap Sanitation & Recycling Inc. will be increasing the rates of there service by 2.1%. The small cart will increase  $.17 and $.36 for the large.

The 2019 Fee Schedule was changed very little with adjustments in the ambulance and the fire departments.
