There are a few days left until Christmas. Less than two weeks and it’s about time to get serious. Preparations are almost complete with only some time juggling left. Getting everyone in one spot at the same time is getting more difficult with each passing year.
The Christmas Candy Battle has changed again this year. What is your favorite candy for Christmas baking, crafts, decorating and snacking? Reese’s peanut butter minis made a huge leap from being the top choice in ten states, up from three last year. Reese’s Pieces held on to top in one state again although the state changed from Maryland to Montana. Pez went from number one in eight states down to three states this year. The seasonal candy industry is up to $2 billion this year. What twisted Minnesota’s sweet tooth you ask? Reese’s mini peanut butter cups was the new winner. Peppermint bark was number two. Falling to third place was Hershey’s Kisses. Iowa’s top spot went to M&M’s this year. South Dakota was Reese’s mini cups. Our region is so far ahead of the ones who have Skittles or Pez in first place. But what do I know.
I watched the turkey bowling Saturday at Fulda’s Parade of Lights. Interesting. Everyone had a different approach that yielded much the same results. Lobbing a ten pound frozen turkey at some milk jug pins is a skill not often practiced. It was like a very cold game of Angry Birds. I didn’t try because I had all I could do just to stand up.
The Viking vs. Seahawks game just finished and that was very depressing. There was no hope.
