WORTHINGTON, Minnesota, Sept. 16, 2019 — Worthington’s annual King Turkey Day was recognized by Cooperative Energy and Cenex®, the energy brand of CHS, for being a unique source of pride in southwestern Minnesota. As part of this recognition, the Worthington Chamber of Commerce received a $5,000 grant from Cenex to support planning the 80th anniversary celebration.
Worthington’s Chamber determined the $5,000 donation would be best used to support the events that take place on King Turkey Day, like the free community pancake breakfast and activities for the children. King Turkey Day is a long-standing tradition in Worthington that celebrates the abundance of wild turkeys in the area. Each year, turkeys from Worthington and Cuero, Texas race in attempt to claim the winner title of the Great Gobbler Gallop. At the event this past weekend, Cooperative Energy participated in the Turkey Day parade and handed out beach balls, koozies, and launched t-shirts from the crowd favorite t-shirt cannon.
