Minnesota Author, Farmer Gordon, was a guest speaker for four separate sessions at Fulda Elementary School on Wednesday, March 21st. Farmer Gordon, dressed in a blue chambray shirt and blue jean overalls, is poet and author Gordon W. Fredrickson.

During his talks with the students, Farmer Gordon explained about life and work on the farm in the 1950s. He intrigued his young audiences as they listened to his stories and shared about a cat named Dusty, a curled bill duck named Little Duck, and a German Shepherd name Rex (which means ‘The King’).

He also talked about climbing a tree for safety while being chased by the bull.

The author was raised on a 120 acre dairy farm in what he describes as “hilly and rocky”.  He told his audiences that he “began work as a young child and attended a one-room country school for three years before it was consolidated into a part of a large school district where he had to be bused to town.”

Upon graduation, Farmer Gordon served in the United States Army for three years. He then enrolled at the University of Minnesota and earned a Master of Education degree. Using that degree, he taught high school English for sixteen years, as well as being an assistant coach for wrestling and director for several play productions.
