Boys bring home runner-up trophy at Conference meet; Girls take third

The Red Rock Conference Golf Meet was held at Great Life 18-hole, par 71, Golf Course in Worthington on Wednesday, May 16. Eight teams battled it out for the Conference Championship and Runner-Up awards. Murray County Central took home the championship in both the boys and girls tournaments.

The top ten golfers earn All Conference awards. The golfers will begin their Section meet today, May 23, at Worthington.

Boys Conference meet

The MCC Rebels boys team led the way, with the top three golfers in the tournament. The Heron Lake-Okabena-Fulda Coyotes brought up home the runner-up trophy, shooting 364 as a team. MCC’s score was 347.

Rebel Tyler Groves was the conference medalist, shooting 75 on the day. Jack Pierson and Cole Ahlers came in with 81 and 87 for the Rebels.

Finishing in fourth was Westbrook-Walnut Grove’s Anthony Ross, carding an 87. He was followed by Heron Lake-Okabena-Fulda Coyote eCory Renneke with an 88. Trey Huisken, Southwest Christian-Edgerton (89), was sixth, with the Coyotes Joe Fisher placing seventh (92). WWG’s Andrew Quade and Kyle Kuehl finished with 92 and 93 for eighth and ninth places. In tenth was Marcus Vanderlugt (SWC-E) with a  95.
