Fifth grade students at Fulda Elementary School were in for a treat on Thursday as they traveled to Maple Lawn Senior Care for their monthly Buddy-Up meeting. Upon arriving there, they found out that they, along with their resident buddy, would be packing shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child. Many of the students had never heard of the project before, but were delighted to be a part of this Samaritan’s Purse project that puts a gift in the hands of thousands of needy children around the world.
Maple Lawn Activities Department personnel first showed the two sections of fifth grade students a video about Operation Christmas Child. The students were then asked to sit at tables to fold the Operation Christmas Child boxes in preparation to be filled.
In the living room of Maple Lawn Senior Care, residents waited with a variety of items for the students to pass by them as they placed the items in the shoeboxes.
