A strong second-half finish by the Heron Lake-Okabena / Fulda C-Squad boys basketball team last Thursday evening (December 12) closed the gap for the Coyotes in a game against the visiting Windom Eagles.
Playing on the home court in Fulda, the Coyotes sliced a 16-point deficit down to just eight, 38-30, by the time the final buzzer sounded.
Windom had claimed a 27-13 halftime lead and then scored the first two points of the second half to hold a 29-13 advantage before HL-O / Fulda countered by scoring 17 of the game’s next 26 points.
Sophomore Jonathon Hoy scored nine points to lead the Coyotes in scoring, while freshmen teammates Gunnar McNab (seven), Rylan Klein (six), Aiden Lang (four) and Ethan Nielsen (four) combined to tally 21 more points.
Five other players contributed for the Coyotes without scoring.
Greyson Elder, son of former Fulda High School athlete Erin Elder, scored a game-high 12 points to lead the Eagles. Elder converted a four-point play for Windom midway through the first half.
