Tim Gass

What position you are vying for and why you feel you are qualified:

Murray County Commissioner District #3. I feel that I am qualified for this position because I have an extensive background not only in agriculture, but also in business. I believe that Murray County is an agricultural county and I will represent not only the agriculture side, but also the cities that are within Murray County. Also I feel there is a need to restore confidence within our county.

Experience for office sought:

I have been a lifelong resident of Murray County and have cared for this county for many years. I am self-employed and have been farming all my life. I also have 14 years in metal fabrications and machining business and eight of those years of being a shop foreman. Also I’m currently serving on my 12th year on the Slayton City Cemetery as a board member.

Family, if you so choose to list them:

I have been married for 7 years.  My wife and I have 2 wonderful children together.  My wife works at the MCC school district and my children are currently enrolled at Murray County Central School.

What position you are vying for and why you feel you are qualified:

Murray County Commissioner District #3.

Experience for office sought:

I was mayor for the City of Avoca for eight years and have dealt with several state and city issues.

Sarah Rylaarsdam

What position you are vying for and why you feel you are qualified:

Murray County Commissioner District #3. I was born into a Military family, where dedication and hard work was instilled into us growing up. A good portion of my childhood was spent here in Murray County and I graduated from Murray County Central. I have always worked in the Community and feel I have a handle on what people want and need. I assist with numerous events with my children’s schools and church and I’m always willing to help out and listen. We are very family oriented and take pride in our Community. I am ready to take a stand and do what is necessary to makes things better for ALL Citizens

Experience for office sought:

My husband and I run a very successful and long-standing Dairy Farm. I coordinate aspects of the farm on a daily basis. Before becoming a dedicated farm spouse, I was employed with banking institutions in Murray County. I am very passionate about financial responsibility and being financially sound. I have been on other boards in Murray County such as Hospice and Junior Achievement. On these boards, I dealt with bookkeeping and budgeting, two of my specialties. I have always enjoyed conversing with the public about County issues and would love to be given the chance to help resolve some of our current problems in the County.

Family, if you so choose to list them:

I am married to my best friend, Virgil Rylaarsdam. We have five beautiful children ranging from 17 years of age to 2 years of age. They are the light of our lives and all of our spare time is spent with them on learning excursions, church, sports and swimming.

Dennis “Wally” Welgraven

What position you are vying for and why you feel you are qualified:

Murray County Commissioner District #3. I’ve been on the Chandler Fire Department for 26 years, the Fenton Township Board for 12 years, and other local boards. I also help out with other community organizations.

Experience for office sought:

I believe my experience with the fire department and township board will aide me for this position. I have dealt with a lot of different people and enjoy working with them.

Family, if you so choose to list them:

My wife’s name is Roberta.  She is a teacher.  I have three sons:  Kyle who lives in Colorado, Kaylib and his wife, Chlesie who live in Ramsey, Minnesota, and Kory who is serving in the Marines on an aircraft carrier.  I am looking forward to being a grandpa in October.
