Sharon Lais has been the face of the public relations department at Murray County Medical Center for the past nine years. She will officially retire that position on July 27th with Carrie Zens hired as her replacement.

Not only has Lais served as the voice for MCMC on the Slayton Area Chamber, Kiwanis, MCMC Auxiliary, Hadley Lions, and ECI but has kept the area communities informed about the happenings at the local hospital. Whether it was the newsletter, billboards, or advertising with the radio and local papers, Lais had her stamp on it.

She began her career at MCMC in July of 2000 working in registration, collections, and billing. From there, Lais moved over to accounts payable and finance. Then at the end of 2008 Lais took over the reins of the PR department from Michael Kuel.

Lais is more than happy to share all MCMC has to offer and even more excited about the changes she’s seen over these past nine years. “I’m so proud of this facility, its growth, and the expanded services we are able to offer here,” commented Lais.

She is also quick to point out the great relationships she’s gained not only with the MCMC staff, but also the many community members in which Lais has had the honor of being involved with while serving the community.

Over the past few years Lais has seen a change in the public relations world. “It’s moving more towards social media,” she says. “We’ve added Facebook and website.”
