Sparked by the hot shooting of both Kevin Vang (15 first-half points) and Ayden Vang (15 points for the game, seven in the first half and eight in the second), Westbrook-Walnut Grove defeated the Heron Lake-Okabena / Fulda C-Squad boys basketball team in a contest played at Okabena last Tuesday, February 18.
W-WG posted a 36-18 halftime lead on the Coyotes, who scored 18 points in each half and had a total of seven players score in the game.
Leading HLOF was eighth-grader Tim Salentiny who tallied 12 points (two 3-pointers and three 2-point field goals), while Ethan Nielsen (eight), Rylan Klein (six), Preston Christoffers (three), Logan Gass (three), Evan Madsen (two) and Mason Johnson (two) combined to notch 24 more points for the Coyotes.
Nielsen netted a pair of 3-pointers and Christoffers connected once from long-range. Johnson was two-of-two at the free throw line.
