Courtney Heppler, daughter of Steffany Heppler, has been named the recipient of the 2017 Midwest Free Community Papers (MFCP) Merle C. Been Scholarship. The scholarship is awarded in the amount of $500.00 annually and will be renewed up to 4 years. She was presented with the scholarship at the 2017 MFCP Spring Conference held in Altoona, Iowa, during the weekend of April 8th.
Heppler, who is a senior at Fulda High School, will be attending South Dakota State University-Vermillion, and will be majoring in social work with an emphasis on child welfare. Applicants for the MFCP Merle C. Been Scholarship must themselves, parent or legal guardian, work for a publication/company that belongs to Midwest Free Community Papers. They must also be a high school graduating senior or student who has never attended college. Contestants are not limited to attending a 4 year college, as vocational schools, trade schools, and community colleges are also acceptable.
