Coyote boys finish fourth in seven-team meet with 79 points

Cheadle, Spittle win field events at Wolverine Classic

Seniors Sam Cheadle and Gabe Spittle each won their favorite events at the seven-team Wolverine Classic high school track and field meet at Mountain Lake’s Munson Field last Friday, April 5.

Cheadle won the high jump as he was the only competitor to clear the bar at 5-10. Likewise, Spittle topped the field and finished first in the pole vault, soaring over 10-0.

Cheadle placed second in the long jump with a leap of 18-7 and Spittle placed three times in sprinting events, finishing sixth in both the 100 (12.29) and 400 (58.53), while placing eighth in the 200 (25.33).

Cheadle, who also ran on the Coyotes third-place 4 x 400-meter relay team (4:10.15) with seniors Daine Jensen and Carlos Juarez, along with sophomore Paul Salentiny, finished the day with a team-high 19.5 points (10, 8, 1.5), while Spittle contributed 17 (10, 3, 3, 1).
