Coyote girls compete well in True Team Meet

With a pair of first-place finishes on the track by freshman Morgan Gehl and high-placing performances by seniors Cheyenne Schaffer and Allison Kenney in field events, the Heron Lake-Okabena / Fulda girls racked up a total of 397 points in the 13-team Section 3A True Team high school track and field meet at Slayton last Monday, May 7.

In True Team competition, all participants — two from each team in each individual event — count in the scoring, ranging from 26 points (for first place in a 13-team meet) to one point for 26th.

The Coyotes ended up in ninth place among the 13 competing teams, finishing ahead of Tracy-Milroy-Balaton (352), Westbrook-Walnut Grove / Red Rock Central (320.5), Adrian (295) and Ellsworth (50).
