Coyote girls run well in several relays at indoor track and field meet

A pair of first-place finishes by sophomore distance ace Morgan Gehl highlighted Heron Lake-Okabena / Fulda’s girls’ performances last Thursday (March 28) in an indoor high school track and field meet at Redwood Falls.

Gehl convincingly won both the 1,600-meter run (5:23.04) and 800-meter run (2:32.41) events by large distances as she helped the Coyotes score 59.5 points in the four-team meet, which also included Canby / Minneota (112.5), Redwood Valley (98) and Yellow Medicine East (19).

Coyote eighth-grader Faith White won the pole vault, clearing the bar at 6-6. White also finished third in the 60-meter dash with a time of 9.21 seconds.

Seventh-grader Sam Untiedt placed third in the 60-meter high hurdles (11.63), raced to a fifth-place finish in the 200-meter dash (31.18) and leaped a distance of 12 feet, 10.5 inches for sixth in the long jump. Untiedt also ran a leg on HLOF’s second place 4×100-meter relay team (1:00.1), teaming with White, Irish Hollahan and Emma Wehking.
