Coyotes are seventh in 3A True Team Meet Spittle, Cheadle, Thier, Kunerth score big for HL-O / Fulda boys

Getting big all-around scoring performances from Gabe Spittle (63 points), Sam Cheadle (50.75), Zach Thier (44.75) and Matthias Kunerth (43.75), Heron Lake-Okabena / Fulda’s boys tallied 389 points and finished seventh — among 13 teams — at this year’s Section 3A True Team high school track and field meet held at Slayton last Monday, May 7.

In the huge meet with all places, 1st through 26th, counting in the scoring, point totals were high.

Redwood Valley won the team title, advancing to the State True Team Meet, with a total of 679.5 points. Southwest Minnesota Christian / Edgerton finished second with its score of 641, followed by Canby / Minneota (634.5), Pipestone Area (554), host Murray County Central (526), Windom (478.5), HL-O / Fulda (389), Lakeview (357.5), Adrian (346), Hills-Beaver Creek (324), Ellsworth (322), W-WG / RRC (305) and T-M-B (287).

The Coyotes scored very well in the field events, racking up a team-best 44 point in the pole vault (second and eighth). The boys scored 41 points in the high jump, 38 in the triple jump and 30 points in the discus.
