Coyotes cruise past Patriots, 78-61

Playing perhaps their best 11-minute stretch of the season on both ends of the floor right out of the gate, the Heron Lake-Okabena/Fulda Coyotes soared to a huge 37-17 lead by the 7:22 mark of the first half and coasted to a 78-61 victory over the Hills-Beaver Creek Patriots in a Red Rock Conference high school boys’ basketball game last Friday night (February 21) at Okabena.

It was the last regular-season game of the year for the Coyotes, who improved to 11-15 overall and 8-8 in the conference on Senior Night. Tyler Madison, Brandon Hinkeldey and Ethan Koep played their final game at home for HL-O/F.

“It was a great all-around night by our team,” Coyotes head coach Colby Pack said. “We played terrific to start the game, as the first 11 minutes was easily the best stretch of basketball we have played all year. We will need that same type of effort when we play H-BC again in the tournament.”
