Khloe Gehl and Chrissy Hermeling each hit four 3-pointers last Tuesday night (December 3), leading the Heron Lake-Okabena/Fulda Coyotes to a 55-39 victory over the Westbrook-Walnut Grove Chargers in a Red Rock Conference high school girls’ basketball game in Westbrook.
Gehl finished with a game-high 17 points, four rebounds and three assists, while Hermeling scored 16 points and had three assists to help the Coyotes claim their first win of the season.
“We were able to get out right away and take an early lead against W-WG,” Coyotes head coach Andy Oakland said. “We moved the ball really well and found our open shooters. Khloe, Chrissy and Kailee Haberman all came up big and shot the ball with confidence in the first half, which allowed us to expand our lead.”
HL-O/F built an impressive 35-18 halftime lead, hitting seven of its nine 3-pointers in the opening 18 minutes. The Coyotes were also 8-for-13 from the free-throw line in the first half.
