Coyotes finish season with 57-24 loss to Dragons

Finishing the first half on a 13-4 run, the third-seeded Adrian/Ellsworth Dragons took a 33-14 halftime lead and went on to claim a 57-24 victory over the sixth-seeded Heron Lake-Okabena/Fulda Coyotes in the quarterfinals of the Section 3A South high school girls’ basketball tournament last Saturday afternoon (February 22) at Worthington.

A/E (14-11) advanced to the next round to play second-seeded Southwest Christian, while HL-O/F ended the season with a final record of 4-23.

“We played really hard and tried our best, and that’s all you can ask for at this time of the year,” Coyotes head coach Andy Oakland said. “We had some positive plays on both ends of the floor early in the game, as it was 20-10 midway through the first half.”
