Fueled by a 20-point performance by senior wing McKenzie Evers, the continually-improving Heron Lake-Okabena / Fulda varsity girls’ basketball came within six points of the Edgerton Flying Dutchmen in a Red Rock Conference game at Edgerton last Tuesday evening, January 8.
The final score was 52-46 in favor of the Dutchmen, who held a slim two-point edge (18-16) at halftime.
Evers connected on a pair of three-pointers, made four two-point field goals and was six-of-nine at the free throw line. She also snagged seven rebounds and came up with six steals in a stellar all-around game for the Coyotes.
Junior Kelsey Fuerstenberg was a force off the boards for HLOF as she pulled down a team-high nine rebounds (eight offensive) and scored six points, while also dishing off an assist.
