Creating Valentine Boxes at Kindergarten Winter Blast

Fulda Elementary School kindergarten students and parents joined together for a morning of fun to celebrate the Kindergarten Winter Blast.

First on the schedule was a breakfast of pastries, juice and milk served in the cafeteria of the school.

When breakfast was done, students and parents could choose paper in the colors of red, black, yellow, green, purple, and pink to wrap a box which would become a mailbox for Valentines.

Sharing of supplies in the room was an opportunity for parents to get to know one another. Several adornments were available for the students to choose from including pipe cleaners, pompoms, felt cutouts, and much more.

Sharing of ideas also happened throughout the two kindergarten rooms, as  kindergarten teachers Tonya Erdmann and Colleen Freeman visited with each student and their parents.

As the creative workmanship began wrapping up, it was apparent that students and parents had made Victorian-style boxes, tractors, trucks, monsters,  animals and super hero characters.

Once the boxes were decorated, each student and his or her parent(s) were invited to pose for a Valentine’s Day photo.

They could then go back into the classroom and find several games that were available to play.  Kirigami snowflakes could be made as well as  paper hats.
