Thursday, September 27, 1962

The State of Minnesota has recorded that Maple Lawn Nursing Home has been incorporated under and in accordance with the provisions of the Minnesota Non-profit Corporation Act, Minnesota Statues, Chapter 317 as the 24th day of September 1962.

The oral polio vaccine will be given in Fulda sometime in January. More details later.

Pat Reusse fractured his kneecap two weeks ago in Minneapolis while playing football. Pat had surgery on Monday morning at the Worthington Hospital.

Mrs. M. Koopman rites will be held here on Thursday. Margaret Koopman passed away suddenly on September 24th at the Murray County Memorial Hospital.

Mrs. Anton Hames (Lucy Wilmes) passed way after a long illness on Wednesday evening.

Janet Abramson is engaged to marry Philip Hintermeister. The wedding will take place in Slayton on December 22nd.

Lanoue's recently installed a larger kitchen and more booths and beginning on Monday, October 1, will be serving meals along with lunches as they previously did.

Eve Schlueter and Harvey Yantzi were married Saturday afternoon, September 15th at Christ Lutheran church in Slayton.

Sandra Langfeldt and LeeRoy Berglund were united in marriage Friday evening, September 21st at Faith Lutheran Church in Avoca.

Lighted candelabra, white gladioli and mums, with white bells and blue trim on the pews of Faith Lutheran Church in Westbrook made a beautiful setting for the marriage of Lucenin Ann Carlson and Henry Dale Dieters on September 8th.

Mr. and Mrs. Philip Elskamp are the parents of a son born on September 21 at Slayton. Grandparents included Mrs. Agatha Elskamp and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Voss.

Mr. and Mrs. Bill Feist are the parents of a daughter born September 20th.

Mr. and Mrs. Ray Torkelson are the parents of a daughter born Monday, September 24th.

The Fulda Elementary School has endorsed a new approach to teaching reading called Orion-Gillingham.

Steve Clark has been reelected as President of the National Farmers of Murray County organization.

U.S. Representative Vin Weber has announced a four-point farm plan to boost farm prices and farmers income. First a “Sanctity of Contract” would be enacted; second to fully fun the revolving export fund (P.L. 97-98) to build new markets for farm products abroad; third to enact legislation to protect farmers from elevator bankruptcies; and fourth to advocate the enactment of a paid land diversion program for wheat and feed grains.

Denal Baumgartner and Mark Wahlberg were united in marriage at St. Stephen's Catholic Church on June 12th.

Pamela Arends and James Fargen were united in marriage on August 28th at Saint Lambert's Church in Sioux Falls.

Laurel Czepa and Rodney Meinerts were wed at St. Gabriel's Cahtolic Church on September 11th.

Deb Ruetten and Mark Goettig announce their engagement. An April 16th wedding is planned.

Michael Stephens and Melanie Ramerth announce their engagement. The couple is planning a January 2, 1983 wedding in Sand Diego, California.

Sophie Dittmann passed away at the Slayton hospital on September 23rd at the age of 90 years old.

Funeral services were held on September 26th for Irene Brower.

Charles Johnson passed away Sunday morning, September 5th at his home from a heart attack. Mr. Johnson was 84 years old.

A daughter, Valerie was born to Mr. and Mrs. Dale Ellens on September 23rd. Grandparents include Mr. and Mrs. Richard Johnson and Mr. and Mrs. Kermith Ellens.

Celebrating birthdays at Maple Lawn Nursing Home include Lillian Iverson, Minnie Knorr, Mary Venenga, Gertrude Spillman, Ruby Mahon, Rachel Curtis and Hulda Brown.

Wednesday, September 23, 1992

Thanks to EMT Bill Fuerstenberg Lorisa Kruse was delivered at home save and sound to her parents Terese and Darwin Kruse on an early Saturday morning.

Monica Christenson is the Learning Disability Teacher at the Fulda Elementary School.

Christy Ebbers and Jeff Vortherms were crowned King and Queen of Fulda High School Homecoming events.

Last week city officials learned that the community of Fulda became the recipient of a $51,000 bequest from Harry and Myrtle Groth. They left $17,000 each to the city of Fulda, Fulda Community Club and the Fulda Fire Department.

Michael Lehman passed away September 15th at the age of 20 years old.

Gertrude Gehl passed away at the age of 86 on September 20th.

Linda and Ray Smith are the parents of a daughter, Bonnie-Joy born September 4th. Grandparents include Allen and Bonnie Smith and Alvin and Arlene Heintz.

Jerry and Lori Ysker are proud to announce the birth of their son, Dustin on September 14th. Grandparents include Mae Ysker, Janice Rehnelts and Virgil Rehnelts.
