Fulda notched their first victory of the season against the Lakeview Lakers 70-44. The Raiders were able to score by using a balanced attack, both offensively and defensively. Fulda scored nine, three pointers on the night and forced 35 Laker turnovers. Coach Slaathaug remarked "I thought the team did several good things for our first game. We played extremely hard and had great role acceptance among each individual player. We have a lot to clean up on the defensive end with closing out and rebounding."
Senior Brittney Hermeling lead the Raiders with 20 points and 4 assists on the night. "It felt good to be back out on the basketball floor again. I had butterflies to begin with, but once the game started, everything felt right," said Hermeling. Another senior, Amanda Schumacher, added 13 more points to help the Raider cause followed by Maddy Westra with a three pointer and 4 assists.
Defensively Melissa Gehl was able to grab 14 rebounds, 6 steals, and added 10 points for Fulda, while Courtney Tiesler had 5 steals and 9 points. Rachel Cheadle captured 10 rebounds and scored 8 points, also Myah Holinka contributed 6 rebounds and 7 points for the Raiders.
Fulda will next be in action Tuesday, December 4, at Murray County Central. |
