Fulda Elementary School fourth grade students were issued passports to travel to Jamaica, Italy, France, Germany, Mexico and Holland last week. They were guests of the Fulda High School Working With Children Class who had prepared six locations in the kitchen lab at the school for the Cultural Tour.
Met by Cultural Tour hostess Laura Williams, the students were handed their passports and instructed to add their name and other personal information to its pages. Once this task was completed, the tour began.
During their visit to Germany, the fourth grade students learned that the country’s residents were the first to make gingerbread houses. Folks in the United States enjoyed the confections so much that they also began making gingerbread houses at Christmas time.
Also discovered was the size of the country, facts about clothing worn by the people, their lives, religion, literature, and foods.
An authentic recipe of German Apple Cake, prepared by presenters Laaela Steinmetz and Myah Holinka, was served to the students before they departed to visit another country.
