Raiders down Flying Dutchmen by 34

January 2, 2013

Coming off of a two point loss to George Little Rock on Thursday night, the Raiders looked to rebound Friday at Edgerton.
The girls came out a little slow but quickly picked up the tempo and started to drop baskets. The Raiders were able to shut down the Dutchmen for 5:30 minutes in the first half and put together a 12 -0 run. Fulda had a 23-13 lead and kept up their ball control and went into the break with a 35-18 advantage.

The Raiders continued their dominance in the second half and doubled their lead to take home the victory by the score of 73-39. There were many players who stepped up and contributed to the team's success. The top scoring position was shared by two starters, Melissa Gel and Brittney Hermeling each tallied 18 points apiece. Amanda Schumacher added 12 and Rachel Cheadle put in 10 points.

The team displayed solid defense and controlled the ball offensively. This victory moved the Raiders Red Rock Conference record to 4-1 with a 7-2 overall record. The holiday tournament in Windom on Friday and Saturday will be the next time the girl’s basketball team will be in action.
