January 10, 2013

The January thaw is here. Probably not the water running everywhere kind of thaw we would like, but it is acceptable for Minnesota. It's tough to complain about our winters the last few years but it is tradition. Minnesota winters shape us, it gives us that common bond and it gives us that rosy complexion. We have an ability to recognize thru the cloud of frozen breath that hangs around each of us as we move down the street. We won't talk about wind.

This is the week we find out we are average. Our list of new year’s resolutions has met with the temptations and for the most part have again failed miserably. The only chance I have is to build a list that has more attainable goals. Down grading expectations is not the idea I want but I would like room for a cookie once in awhile, a little buttered popcorn, maybe some ice cream when you crave it. The list of temptations is long and added to that this year is those individual wrapped Schwans peanut butter ice cream covered with chocolate that is really good. I was better off not knowing they existed but its to late now.

Teacher: Why are you late?

Student: Because, of the sign!

Teacher: What sign?

Student: The one that says, "School Ahead, Go Slow."

Q: What is the height of stupidity?

A: 2 men sitting on a motorcycle and fighting for a window seat.

Have a good week.
