| Jr. High Knowledge Bowl team takes second place at Sub-region tourney |

The Fulda JH Knowledge Bowl team traveled to Southwest Minnesota State University on Monday to compete in the Sub-regional Tournament. Fulda Team 1, consisting of Millie Piper, Claire Westra, Kasey Hermeling, Frances Piper, and Sam Cheadle, took second place at the event, losing to a Marshall team by only half a point, 101.5 – 102. Team 3, consisting of Cody Froderman, Isaac Schroer, Kendall Clark, and Jason VanDyke, finished 26th and also qualified, as the top 27 of 54 teams advanced. On January 9, Team 1 and Team 3 competed in the Regional Tournament of 51 teams, finishing 17th and 46nd to end the season. Knowledge Bowl is an academic quiz competition featuring teams of 4-6 students. Regional tournaments consist of a written round of 60 questions follow by 4 rounds of 45 oral questions. After each round, the teams are ranked based on overall score and sorted into competition rooms in groups of three teams. A simple scoring machine in the room is attached to three strips. Each team sits around a strip and buzzes in to answer questions. |
