With the annual Fulda Fish-A-Rama scheduled for Friday, members of the Fulda Game and Fish Club cleaned and salted about 4,000 pounds of carp on Monday. Club members will begin smoking the fish on Wednesday.
This is the 57th year for the Fish-A-Rama. It was first held in 1954. When adding those numbers together, readers may say, ‘that does not add up’ and, yet, it does! In its history, the Fulda Game and Fish Club has had two recent years where weather conditions created thin ice which did not allow for safety for the carp to be seined. 2010 was the first year, and 2012 was the second year that the Fish-A-Rama had to be cancelled. Area residents met the cancellation notices with great regret!
This year’s menu is one that brings about great anticipation for the feast of smoked fish, barbeques, cheeses, baked beans with bacon, crackers, bread, pickles, chips, coffee and juice.
The event will be held at the Fulda Community/Legion Hall with serving from 4 to 8 p.m.
And just in case of inclement weather - the snow date for the Fish-A-Rama is February 1st. |
