Jerry Miller, Olathe, KS, is a former Fulda man who has recently recorded his own music CD entitled “Songs You Love. “

Miller was a member of the former local band The Banditos. The Banditos were together from 1969 to 1974. “The former owner of the Fulda Free Press, Jim Frick, asked me if I wanted to get together and jam when I came to the newspaper office to place an ad for my own band, “The Judge and Jury” which included local guys Mike Chepa and Doug Kirchner. Jim introduced me to Doc Schwarz and Steve Webb, and The Banditos were born,” Miller explained.

Miller was bon in Sumter, South Carolina. His father, Glenn Miller, who was from Minnesota, met his wife, Eunice, who was from South Carolina, while he was stationed at Shaw Field Air Force Base in Sumter.

Miller is a 1971 graduate of Fulda High School. While working as a carry-out boy at Nick’s Red Owl on St. Paul Avenue in Fulda, he met his wife, Judy Haseman-Malenke. “I was carrying out John and Mildred Haseman’s groceries for them and that’s when I met Judy. She has been a wonderful mate,” Miller stated.

As music is one of the great pleasures in life, Miller’s dad taught his a few chords on guitar when he was 11 years of age. “I still have dad’s 1940’s era Gibson model L-00 today. There are actual indentations worn in the fret boards from dad’s fingers. I feel close to him when I play it,” Miller commented.
