The good times are over according to the thermometer. I missed the good weather last week. My own fault. There will be other good days for Minnesota. The cold has brought back that old favorite standout fundraiser. Returning this year to meet that craving need for the almost impossible to find unique cuisine, smoked carp. We're not talking pancakes, no homemade pie or barbecues. This recipe started with 4000 pounds of live fish. Next you cut away all the unusable parts, about half. To the remaining a secrete sauce, handed down over the ages, was added with tender care. The results are handed over to the master smokers. With time in the smoke house everything ends well. The results are something worth eating but not to often. Building that hunger for that hard to find is an art form. If you have a craving, the Fulda Game and Fish Club can satisfy it this Friday night at the Fulda Community/Legion Hall.

The wild unpredictable flu bug has had a wide spread grip on the area. It has an impact on communities, closing nursing homes to visitors, cutting school attendance and made life miserable for a lot of folks. I had my flu shot early last fall and so far have escaped any serious problems. There were a few times I had that queasy feeling reminiscent of my sister’s cooking. I lived although scarred for life.

Two roofers, Larry and Joe were on the roof laying tile, when a sudden wind gust came and knocked down their ladder. “I have an idea” said Larry. “We’ll throw you down, and then you can pick up the ladder.” “What, do you thing, I’m stupid?” “I have and idea” said Joe. “I’ll shine my flashlight, and you can climb down on the beam of light.” “What, do you think I’m stupid?” “You’ll just turn off the flashlight when I’m halfway there.”
