Fulda Eighth grade girls take first
The Fulda Lionís 7th and 8th grade boys and girls basketball tournament took place this past Saturday, January 19th. All girls games were played at the Fulda Elementary School while the boys games were played at the high school.

The tournament was made up of teams from Adrian, Edgerton Westbrook-Walnut Grove and Fulda.

On the boys side...

The Fulda boys 7th grade team opened the tournament early playing the 8am game against Edgerton. Fulda came out on top of this exciting game with a final score of 45-39 in overtime.

Leading scorers were Leighton Gehl 16, Mathias Kunerth 11, Sam Cheadle 10, Christian Goedtke 6, Payton Marquardt 2.

In the second game the 7th grade boys came up against a tough Westbrook Walnut Grove team in a fight for the championship. WWG topped Fulda 58 to 36.

Leading scorers were Leighton Gehl 9, Noah Salentiny 8, Sam Cheadle 7, Christian Goedtke 7, Mathias Kunerth 5.

The 7th grade boys team ended the 2013 Fulda Lionís Tournament in 2nd place.



The first 8th grade boys game began at 10am against Edgerton. Edgerton won 50 to 22.

Leading scorers for Fulda were Justin Dierks 8, Jarrod Jans 6, Brandon Everett 4, Austin Thier 2, Leighton Gehl 2.

The 8th grade second game (consolation game) was against WWG. Fulda played a much better all-around game to win 41 to 27.

Leading scorers were Justin Dierks 12, Brandon Everett 11, Jarrod Jans 8, Tristan Steiner 4, Austin Thier 4, Aron Hulstein 2.

The 8th grade boys received 3rd place in the 2013 Fulda Lionís Tournament.

Coaching both the 7th and 8th grade teams was Grant Harms.



On the girls side...

The 7th grade girls won their first game playing against Edegerton with a score of 32-23.

In the Championship Adrian came out strong and never let up defeating Fulda 30-2.

The Fulda 8th grade girls team won their portion of the tournament with wins over Edgerton and Westbrook-Walnut Grove.

In first game the girls found their rhythm early in the game leaving Edegerton in the dust with 47-13 win.

The Championship game proved a bit more challenging as the lead went back and forth several time in the game with Westbrook-Walnut Grove. TIn the end the 8th grade girls beat Westbrook Walnut Grove to take the Championship game 42-41.

8th grade girls basketball team finished their regular season with a 12-3 record and will be playing in the 8th grade Red Rock Conference Tournament.
