St. Paul's Lutheran School hosted a school wide Geography Bee in January which was sponsored by the National Geographic Organization. Christian Goedtke won first place, Noah Salentiny won second place, and Nathan Goedtke won 3rd place. Each year thousands of schools in the United States participate in the National Geographic Bee using materials prepared by the National Geographic Society. The contest is designed to encourage teachers to include geography in their classrooms, spark student interest in the subject, and increase public awareness about geography. Students in grades four through eight were eligible for this entertaining and challenging test of geographic knowledge. The top winner from each school then takes a written test to determine if they qualify for the state tournament. The test results are published in early March. The top 100 students are selected to compete at the state tournament.
