Whether your favorite chili causes you to feel as though you could blow smoke, or finds you liberally stirring in shredded cheese or crushed crackers, you will be delighted to learn that the Iron Horse Motorcycle Club’s 10th Annual Chili Cookoff and Feed will be held on Saturday beginning at 4:30 p.m. The event will be held at the Fulda Legion/Community Hall.
The chilis that tantalize your tastebuds are supplied by chili cooks who are eager to earn the honor of winning one of the three Chili Cookoff entry categories of mild, medium, or hot! “We found that many of our chili cooks were down-playing the spices in their chilis due to the fact that the majority of the population seems to enjoy a more mild chili,” Iron Horse Motorcycle Club President, Tim Strenge, stated. “So, we decided to make sure we included a hot category as there are still many people who like the hot chilis, too!”
When the members of the Iron Horse Motorcycle Club started their Chili Cookoff and Feed ten years ago, it was for the purpose of raising money to go toward scholarships for graduating seniors. The scholarships were available to students in every school district in the area where there were active Iron Horse Motorcycle Club members. Over $1,000 was raised at the first Chili Cookoff and Feed and three scholarships were awarded that year.
