Thursday, Feb. 14, 1963

An organizational meeting of the Archery Club was held on February 7th at the Public Elementary School. Officers include; Doc Schwarz, Del Koopman, and Connie Wordelman.

Lucile Groskreutz retired after 30 years with N. W. Bell Telephone Co.

Karl Zanko rites held Tuesday at St. Gabriel's. Mr. Zanko passed away on February 9th at the Slayton hospital.

Mrs. M. Klessig, former Fulda resident, was buried here on Friday. Mrs. Klessig's funeral service was held in Fairmont on February 9th.

Services for Mrs. Tena Gotmer were held on Saturday at St. Gabriel's Catholic Church.

Marvin Kleve, who has had to be hospitalized at McKennon Hospital again for more skin grafting is recovering as well as can be expected.

Mrs. Jack Wisdorf underwent surgery this week at the Murray County Memorial Hospital.

Mr. and Mrs. Leo Hogan have returned home with their son, Jerome, after a serious bout with spinal meningitis. He is recovering nicely.

Mr. and Mrs. Howard Kass are the parents of a son, David, born Tuesday, February 5th in Windom. Grandparents include Mr. and Mrs. Frank Voit and Mr. and Mrs. Joe Kass.

Mr. and Mrs. Gary Boomgarden are the parents of a son, Daniel, born February 5th at Windom. Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Charles Gerber and Mr. and Mrs. Peter Boomgarden, Sr.

Mr. and Mrs. Arvin Dierks are the parents of a son born Monday in Worthington.

A son, Jay John, was born to Mr. and Mrs. Charles Sauer, Jr. at the Slayton hospital.

Police officer Tom LeTourneau's probation was extended 90 days at a Special Council meeting on Monday night. The meeting was scheduled to hear LeTourneau's side of the conflict brought to light at last week's meeting. Officer LeTourneau was not present at either meeting. A registered letter was sent to Officer Letourneau and his lawyer.

Eleven students from Fulda competed in the O.E.A. Regional Competitive Events in Marshall on February 6 and 7. Placing from Fulda were Lisa Isder, Kris Stewart, Peggy Uit de Flesh, Sherri Trieweiler, and Julie Hindt.

Charles Holinka was made Vice President of the Minnesota Beer Wholesalers Association in action at their recent convention in Minneapolis.

Kathryn Kirk and Joseph Malters announce their engagement. A May 29th wedding is being planned.

Mr. and Mrs. Gary Anderson-Beckman are proud to announce the birth of their daughter, Lea, born February 9th. Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Walt Beckman and Mr. and Mrs. Duane Anderson.

Mr. and Mrs. Keith Oberloh are the parents of a daughter, Carrie born in Worthington. Grandparents include Mr. and Mrs. Elden Gerdes and Mr. and Mrs. Ervin Oberloh.

A baby girl, Jessica, was born February 1 to Mr. and Mrs. Rodney Meinerts. Grandparents include Mr. and Mrs. Emil Czepa, Jr. and Mrs. Sally Hofeland.

Mrs. Muriel Mac Brown passed away at the age of 73 years old at her residence after a brief illness.

The Fulda Coop Oil Company welcomes Gary Eckelberg as a livestock production specialist.

Winners of the Jaycee Week art contest were Teresa Brockway, Dana Dierksen, Debbie Wolf, Chad Magnussen, Kelli Ramerth and Debbie Beckman.

Governor Arne H. Carlson has announced that the City of Fulda has been awarded a grant in the amount of $1,043,670, which will be used to improve the municipal storm sewer system and to rehabilitate 40 homes and 17 commercial buildings.

Students at the Fulda Elementary School were treated to a lesson in German thanks to enthusiastic “Frau” Heidi Drealan.

Art Sandhurst shares his story about the Bill Westin, the A T & T telephone operator in Duluth who saved his life by contacting the appropriate emergency personal in Murray County to go to Sandhurst's aid.

Fulda public school preschool classes took a tour of the Post Office this past week with Postmaster Pat Uttenbogaard showing them around.

St. Paul's Lutheran School students treated their Grandparents to a special day filled with song, skits, and snacks.

Fulda Senior Profiles for this week include Michael Glatz and Dirk Wehking.

Michael and Susan Ommen are proud to announce the birth of their son, Kirby born February 13. Grandparents are Paul and Greta Gantriis and Verlyn “Doc” and Marilyn Ommen.

David and Lyn Gustafson are proud to announce the birth of their daughter, Kate. Grandparents include Kerm and Elsie Gustafson and Bob Christenson.

Claire Snider has been hospitalized in St. Paul.

Roman Henkels passed away on February 13th at the age of 77 years old.

Warriors advance to Section 3A tournament defeating A/E and Tracy.

Fulda Raiders beat the Rebels in over time with a score of 64-63 bringing the Goat back to Fulda!
