West Graham Lake was the site of a small city of ice houses on Saturday as the Heron Lake Young Men’s Club held their Annual Ice Fishing Tournament.
Clarice Gehl, who lives near the public access for West Graham Lake, said that the ice fishing tournament traffic started arriving about 1:00 a.m. on Saturday morning. “It was something to hear all of those vehicles and then to see them all on the lake this morning,” she stated.
By the time registration for the event was complete, there were 337 people attempting to catch the largest walleye, Northern or perch in the lake. The tournament began at noon.
As 4:00 p.m. drew close, a large crowd gathered near the Ice Fishing Tournament headquarters. Many door prizes were given away that had been given to the Heron Lake Young Men’s Club to use for this year’s event.
