Several students from Fulda High School attended this year’s BPA State Conference which was held on Thursday through Saturday, March 7-9 in Minneapolis. This year’s theme was “Uncover Your Magic”. Students had the opportunity to listen to Kenneth Leon Nelson, Founder of KLN Family Brands - Barrel O’Fun Snack Foods. He contributed the growth success of his business to his parents and the awesome people with whom he works with.

Mallory Pagel earned 1st place in Interview Skills. Pagel developed a cover letter and resume and completed an application form for an entry level position in a corporation. She was involved in an oral interview for the position before a panel of three judges and was selected for call backs for a final interview which was conducted by a panel of five interviewers. She was evaluated on her job search and interview situations including the letter and resume along with her oral interviews.

Laura Williams earned 4th place in Entrepreneurship. She developed a business plan to initiate a small business. Williams was to assume that she was presenting her business plan to potential investors at a bank with the objective of securing financing for her business venture. She developed a written business plan and presented the plan along with a power point creation before a panel of judges consisting of business executives from the Metro area.

Marissa Kunerth, Suzy Pagel, and Madison Dibble placed 8th in Presentation Management Team and were assessed on using current desktop technologies and software to prepare and deliver an effective multimedia presentation. They developed a presentation using both print and broadcast media that encouraged employers to hire applicants that have been members of Business Professionals of America.

Andy Oakland competed in Advanced Word Processing and was evaluated on advanced word processing skills and document production. Marrissa Kunerth and Bennett Appel cmpeted in keyboarding production and were evaluated on entry-level skills in keyboarding and document production.

The Grand Award Session was held Saturday morning when the winners were called to the stage to receive their awards. The National Leadership Conference will be held in Ordlando, Florida in May.
