Fulda Community Education’s Winter Brochure offered a Mystery Quilt Class beginning January 17th. Several ladies from Fulda and Slayton were intrigued by the class description of “What is a Mystery Quilt? Instructions for construction of a mystery quilt are given bit by bit so that the end product will be a mystery until the project is nearly complete.”

On the first night of class, they received some basic quilting instructions and were told to purchase twelve one-quarter yard pieces of complimentary fabric, background fabric and fabric for the backing of the quilt.

During their quest for “just the right fabric”, several of the ladies shopped at area quilt shops and enjoyed looking at other sewing kits and ideas while doing so.

FULDA FREE PRESS/Norma Dittman Rancher’s Daughter was the name of the Mystery Quilt that the women pictured above made during this winter’s Fulda Community Education Mystery Quilt Class. taught by Vicki Hansen, Slayton, MN. The class started on January 17th and three weeks ago, the students learned what pattern they were making. Each of the students shared that they had learned something different from making the Rancher’s Daughter quilt. Five of the students had never sewn a quilt before. This group of women stated that they would be excited to take another Mystery Quilt Class.
