Second Annual Heritage Country Show

to be held Sunday, April 7th

Seven local country singers will be entertaining the audience at the Fulda Heritage Society's Second Annual Heritage Country Show which will be held on Sunday, April 7, 2 p.m. in the Fulda High School gymnasium.

Mylan Ray, Pipestone, MN, will be the host for the Heritage Country Show. Ray has been a long-time disc jockey for KLOH radio and does DJ work throughout the region. In 2012, he was inducted into the Iowa Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

During the show, vocalists will be performing old time favorites from artists such as Merle Haggard, Skeeter Davis, Willie Nelson, Martina McBride, Josh Turner, Johnny Cash, and Linda Ronstadt.

This year's show will feature vocalists “Doc” Schwarz, Fulda, MN, Nikki Cheskie, Avoca, MN, Loren Chapman, Fulda, MN, Eldon Larson, Fulda, MN, Paulette Whiteford, Windom, MN, Melissa Schulz, Mahtomedi, MN, and Gene McClellan, Westbrook, MN.

“Doc” Schwarz was with many bands throughout his musical career. One of the best known that he played with was the Banditoes. Schwarz has played in bands for about 35 years and has recorded one record entitled the Green, Green Grass of Home. Schwarz still loves to sing old Country Western songs. Some of his favorites are You Were Always on My Mind, Folsom Prison Blues, and Lucille.

Nikki Cheskie is from Avoca, MN. She was born and raised in Slayton, MN, lived in Fulda for nine years, and is currently living on an acreage near Avoca.

Cheskie is employed as a social worker at Murray County Central Elementary School.

She is married to Jeff who is currently deployed to Afghanistan with the Navy Reserves. The couple has one son, Kyle, age 9.

Cheskie will be singing a couple of her favorite country songs such as Independence Day, God Bless the USA, and Crazy.

Loren Chapman is from Fulda, MN. He has his own karaoke equipment and does takes bookings. Chapman is a bulk milk truck driver by occupation.

He will be performing songs by Ronny Milsap and Alabama such as Daydreams About Night Things and If You’re Gonna Play in Texas.

Eldon Larson, Fulda, MN, has been singing with bands for over 40 years. He is currently singing lead vocals with the 1950’s and 60’s band “Starfire”. His hobby is competitive archery.

Larson is a member of the Iowa Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

He will be performing Josh Turner’s Long Black Train and Elvis Presley’s It’s Now or Never.

Paulette Whiteford is from Windom, MN. She will be performing Sleepin’ Single In a Double Bed, I Can’t Stay Mad At You, and That’s What I Like About You.

Whiteford grew up in Lakefield, MN She is the mother of Kalli, age 23, and Kody, age 18. She has one granddaughter, Hiliana.

She has been singing since she “caught the bug of singing karaoke back in 2005.

Melissa Schultz is from Mahtomedi, MN. She is married and has three children. Originally from the Dundee, MN, area, she does karaoke throughout the lower portion of Minnesota from Minneapolis to the southwest area.

Some of Schulz’ past musical accomplishments include performing on stage in the WE Fest Karaoke Round Up finals.

She is the owner/operator of Movin’ Melodies Entertainment and works most weekends doing karaoke/dj shows and weddings.

Schultz will be singing Jolene and Whiskey, if You Were a Woman.

Gene McClellan is from Westbrook, MN, and was born and raised near Dovray. He is a farmer and is married to Julie. They have two sons, Daniel and David.

McClellan will be singing Daddy Sang Bass and Ring of Fire.

Tickets for the Heritage Country Show are available at the Fulda Free Press, the Fulda Depot, Ramerth Hardware, from Virginia Anderson, Doc Schwarz or at the door.

The Heritage Country Show is a fund raiser for and is sponsored by the Fulda Heritage Society.
