April snowstorms seems like a rather cruel prank played by Mother Nature on the good folks who suffered thru a long cold winter. But how bad can it be? The ground is warming and the temperature will rise soon leaving us with the moisture we need. It's just that it is a lot more inconvenient than rain.

The Buffalo Ridge Chapter of Ducks Unlimited annual Get Together is this Saturday night at the Hadley Community Center. If you have an interest in conservation of land and hunting, you will have a great time.

Talking of special occasions, I have an opportunity to celebrate this week one of those yearly milestones that one would like to avoid. The advancement in years is the best you can hope for and with it my admiration grows for those who have done it with grace and style. Their appreciation for life, not only there own, but also of others is admirable. I would like to emulate that process but sometimes I feel like I'm being pulled along, kicking and screaming. Here’s to more understanding.

The Wood Duck Festival is back to the regular time. It will be the 13th thru Sunday the 16th of June. The theme this year is Woody Roars for Lion's 50 Years Service. Most events will remain as they were. New will be the moving of the Miss Fulda Pageant to the festival week. The carnival remains a question. Attempts are being made to secure one but the date will remain the same.

Little Johnny comes downstairs crying. His mother asked, “What’s the matter now?”

“Dad was hanging pictures, and just hit his thumb with hammer,: said little Johnny through his tears. “That’s not so serious,” soothed his mother. “I know you are upset, but a big boy like you shouldn’t cry at something like that. Why didn’t you just laugh?”

“I did!” sobbed Johnny.
