A Disaster Emergency Response Team (D.E.R.T.) from Maple Plain Community Church, Maple Plain, MN, along with Michael Davis, Clearbrook, MN, spent a day working to clear tree debris caused by the April 9-11 storm in the city of Kinbrae. Time only alloted for the group to aid in clearing about one-half of the debris.

D.E.R.T. are a group of volunteers, organized by Dusty O’Brien, and his grandmother, Pat Meyer. “We are willing to help those in need when or where damage to property has occurred due to wind, water, fire, blizzard and other diasters. We trust in God for our strength,” O’Brien explained.

The Maple Plain team consisted of Paul Bergstrom, Don Hamilton, Katie Kuhbander and Dusty O’Brien.

“We have today to help and we are glad to be able to do so,” O’Brien stated. “D.E.R.T. was started by my grandmother and myself. I was listening to the news and heard about the diaster here caused by the ice storm and called my grandmother. She, too, thought we should lend a helping hand.”
