Bid accepted on

water treatment plant project
The Fulda City council accepted the low bid for the water treatment plant project for $477,000. KHC Construction, Inc. was the lowest of four bidders by $35,000, the highest bid was $654,780. The project will be started in the next few weeks. The inspection of the tower will be done in the near future. The city will bond for $1,000,000 for a 15 year term. The increase in your monthly bill for water if you use 500 gallons will be $8.49, a 1000 gal users bill will increase by $11.23 and a 4,000 gallon user would go up by $16.27. The city pumped 40,406,906 gallons of water last year of which 31,269,550 were sold.

The fire department will receive a grant for self contained breathing apparatus (SCBA). The the city will be required to pay five percent of the cost. The council tabled the idea of setting up an existing generator at city hall for a cost of less than $400.

An open forum policy was tabled indefinitely because of restrictions.

Jan Voit and Ross Berrings of Heron Lake Watershed District talked about rain gardens and the positive effect it would have on our lakes and streams. They are interested in getting more home owners signed up for rain gardens.
