Todd Peterson
For the 2nd consecutive year, the MSHSL State Class A Golf Meet was the order of business for Fulda golfer, Todd Peterson.

After a practice round on Monday, June 10th, Todd teed up the ball at 8:24am on Tuesday, June 11, at the Pebble Creek Golf Course in Becker, MN. His opening round started very well with a par on the first hole, and a good recovery bogey on the 2nd. As his round progressed, Todd was able to keep his tee shots in the fairway very well, and had pretty good luck with his putter.

Pebble Creek has quite a bit of sand and water, and very long, thick grass in the roughs that make the course very challenging for high school golfers. His approach shots did give him trouble several times throughout both days, but he finished his opening nine with a very respectable 44, and he closed the back nine with a 48 for an opening day total of 92.

On Wednesday, his tee time was at 7:30am. The rain held off for the first 9 holes, but really let loose during the second nine, soaking golfers and spectators alike.

All of the golfers did well to compete in those wet, windy conditions and Todd played his Wednesday rounds with a 45 out and a 46 in. In both rounds, he strung together several nice holes, having several pars on his first nine, and going par-bogie-birdie-bogie-par in the middle of his back nine. His stroke total for Wednesday was 91, giving him a tournament total of 183, good for 64th place out of the 88 golfers competing in this tournament. Todd’s goal this year was to finish better than last year and he did.

There were many spectators on the course as each golfer had a good following of family and friends. Lisa Peterson, and Fulda Head Girls Golf Coach Loren Carlson and his wife Ruth, followed Todd on both the days of the tournament. Carmen Olsem, her sister Mya Herscher, and Jonas Gandner were there for parts of the tournament as well. Everyone’s presence and encouragement was very much appreciated by both Todd and coach Mike Peterson.

Other area golfers competing at this tournament included Ben Henning and Katie Wieneke-Adrian, Dana Madson and Abby Herding-WWG, Kyle Wendland-SWU, and the MCC boys golf team that finished 2nd in the State.

Congratulations on a fine high school golfing career, Todd!
