Pickleball - a new game in town

Pickleball? What is it?

If you play tennis, racquetball, badminton, or ping pong youre already on your way to becoming a Pickleball player, according to Ron and Diane Kirchner. The couple, and their family, have been playing the game of Pickleball for the past six years. In fact, their driveway has been painted as a Pickleball court. They have so much fun playing that they are willing to teach others how to play the all-ages game.

Ron and Diane learned the game of Pickleball when they first began wintering in Apache Junction, Arizona. We play Pickleball very often, Ron stated. It is a game that young children on up to seniors can play. When our grandchildren come to visit in Arizona, they like to see if they can beat their grandparents. Sometimes they do. And sometimes they learn that their grandparents can beat them. .

Research indicates that Pickleball originated in the Puget Sound area of Washington. In the summer of 1965, two ingenious dads answering the call of Im bored! came up with a new game for the children to play.
