Ivan Tokle of Fulda has entered the “Race of Champions” for drivers of semi-modified stock cars on August 30th at the Minnesota State Fair. Tokle drives a Crosely with a 1951 Hudson engine.

Mrs. Emma Fink died in Arizona with Rites being held in Avoca. Mrs. Fink died on August 21st at the home of her daughter, at the age of 91 years old.
Mrs. Ray Cowhick underwent major surgery at Slayton on Friday.

Fulda schools welcome five new teachers; Public school: Ann Heidmann (Physical Education), Brad Holinka (Physical Education), St. Paul's Lutheran School: Wendy Lorenzen (Grades one and two), Betty Schield (Grades 3, 4, & 5), and Ron Schield (Grades 6, 7, & 8).
A large Walnut tree was toppled on Lafayette Avenue by the storm that hit the area on Saturday. High winds accompanied by 3 inches of rain caused damage throughout Fulda. Included in the loss were three to four hundred sparrows found at sunrise. The sidewalk under a Sugar Maple tree in front of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, home to many Sparrows, was covered with Sparrows either dead or unable to fly. It is expected that a near by strike of lightening caused the deaths.
Around 3 am Saturday morning lightening struck the Roger Gerber home. Fire started upstairs burning holes in the roof damaging all but one room.
Old Indian bones were found in a gravel pit by Talcot Lake recently. The 3,000-year-old bones have been removed and will be examined by the State Archaeologists office.

Janalyn Funk and Gary Schmitz were united in marriage on August 13th in Worthington.
The marriage of Barb Engelkes and Kyle Wildfeuer was solemnized in St. Paul's Lutheran Church of Fulda on July 30th.

Christie A. Gits passed away on August 28th at the age of 83 years old.

Still saturated with high ground water levels following a summer of relentless rain events, Fulda was hit Sunday night with five inches of rain accompanied by an electrical storm. The rain, which fell within two hours, left streets flooded and sewers backed up.
A special meeting was held in the Murray County Central gym to discuss the options for farmers and their crops.
Troy Dieters will be teaching grades 6, 7, and 8 at St. Paul's Lutheran School.
New to the public school system are Nancy Bakke, English, Karmel Holinka, Project COPE, Tim Nordlund, Special Education, and David Blanchard, Art.
Four new channels will be offered through Midwest Cablevision later this month.
Jeremy Pritchard is the grand prizewinner in the David Sunflower Seeds “Glory of Baseball” sports writing contest. Jeremy won two skybox tickets to the Twins versus Toronto Blue Jays game September 18th.
Citizens of Tomorrow include Karli, Martha and Anthony Holinka, Katrina, Kody and Krissa Kramer, Sarah, Brianna, and Lorisa Kruse.
Lena Funk is named Resident of the Month at Maple Lawn Nursing Home.
Curt and Michelle (Otkin) Lachner are the proud parents of a baby girl, Haley Elizabeth, born August 25th. Grandparents include Wayne and Joyce Otkin and Sharon Lachner.
