Fulda City Council reviews 2014 budget

September 11, 2013

Tuesday Sept. 3
The regular Fulda City Council meeting Tuesday, September third found the city deciding if it wanted to add an Administrator title to the Clerk-Treasurer position. Michele Baumhoefner said that she has been doing the work of an Administrator since 2000. Councilman Jim Troje made a motion to change Baumhoefner's title to Administrator/Clerk-Treasurer with a $3.50 per hour increase. The motion died for lack of a second motion. After a short discussion, Troje made another motion that eliminated the Administrator title and just increase the salary $3.50 per hour. Again the motion died for lack of a second.

The 2014 budget was reviewed again with a possible 11.67 percent increase over last year. The council whittled away eliminating approximately $41,000 from the budget. The general government budget is $166,924.00, the police budget will be $226,494, fire protection $299,528.00, public works $303,412.00, ambulance $165,081.00. The total is over $1 million. More adjustments will be made at a September 10th meeting.

In other business, Councilman Chuck Lursen said there was a need for security at city hall. He also would like to change the fence ordinance to allow six foot fences because some fencing material comes in six foot dimensions.
