Murray County Board of Commissioners-Conditional use permits approved

The Murray County Board of Commissioners met on Tuesday, September 3. No ditch petitions for repair were presented. There will be a bid opening for repair of County Ditch #82 in Mason Township on September 5 at 10:15 a.m. The bid is to be awarded on Tuesday, September 10.

A resolution was signed approving the 2013 forfeited land parcels as non-conservation lands. The board set the values for these properties at the August 27 meeting. The forfeited land sale is scheduled for December 9, 2013 at 10:00 a.m.

Approval was given for an expenditure of $173,109.58 for equipment, software, maintenance, installation and training for TAC 10 for law enforcement dispatch. This system allows information between NCIC and TAC 10 components. The programs will route information between dispatch and mobile, car-to-car and car-to Dispatch silent communication, silent dispatch, State NCIC, RMS person and vehicle intelligence and Jail mugshots. Officers will be allowed to query person information, change status, take calls, update call notes, and alerting. It also allows user to run drivers licenses and plates in the vehicle. The funding for this comes from E-911.

A $7,500 CVSO grant was approved for use by Jim Reinert, veterans service officer.

The board approved on recommendation of the Planning and Zoning Commission conditional use permit for Brett Muecketo open and operate a gravel mining operation to include the extraction and processing of aggregate materials in an agricultural district. The site is in Section 35, Des Moines River Township. The estimated length of operation is 30 years and must be renewed every five years. Nine special conditions were added to the permit.

A conditional use permit was granted to Heath Mitchell for a salvage/junk yard in Section 28, Belfast Township. The Planning and Zoning Com-mission recommended the application with 13 special conditions. Only 20 vehicles are allowed outside at any given time. No activity is allowed until all permits are in place.

A conditional use permit was granted to Greg Vander Wal to expand an existing feedlot with an addition to an existing barn, construct a new barn, and expand the lagoon. The feedlot is permitted for 900 dairy or (1,260 AU). Four special conditions were added. When MPCA approves a permit a compost structure for large animals will be constructed. The site is in Section 22 Leeds Township.
