Drizzle like conditions can stop some sports from competing on a day, but for the Cross Country team, they still made the trip to the Canby Invitational for their one meet last week. Though there wasnít a lot of runners there, the time the Rebels showed were right about where theyíve been, or even better, so it was still a good trip for the Rebels.

The Junior High runners started out the day on the starting grid and there were a total of 33 runners for the race. Though in other meets, the boys and girls ran their races seperate, but in Canby, they all ran together. Noah Versaevel from Marshall took home the first place finish in the meet when he completed the run in 6:38. Cameron Kresko was the first Rebel to cross the finish line. He placed 4th overall with a time of 6:48. Jack Peterson wasnít far behind Kresko as he posted a top 10 finish in seventh place. His time was 7:03. Cale Engelkes and Jake Bleyenberg finished back to back when they finished their run. Englekes had a time of 8:22 while Bleyenberg posted a time of 8:26.

There were a total of 23 runners that started the varsity girls race and though the placings werenít in favor of MCC, the improvement of times was a big step for the girls team. Marshall and Canby-Minneota-Lincoln Hi were the only other teams that competed in the varsity race. Calire Boersma from Marshall took the overall win in the race with a time of 15:05. Melissa Gehl finished first for MCC and like mentioned, even though the placings didnít work out for the team, the improvement of times did. Gehl finished with a time of 17:13 in Canby while she posted a time of 17:43 in her last race in Worthington. Sariah Cheadle and Maddie Dibble finished with in a fraction of a second from one another and Dibble improved her time at the finish. Cheadle didnít race in Worthington from the prior week, but still posted a time of 18:12.2 while Dibble posted a time of 18:12.6. Dibble improved her time by 11 seconds.
