First Annual Parade of Lights being planned

October 23, 2013

Friday, December 6th
The 1st Annual Fulda Parade of Lights presented by the Community Club will kick off the Holiday Season in style. The parade will be held on Friday, December 6th, starting at 6:30 p.m. with the theme “It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas!”

Santa will be in town prior to the parade to meet with the little ones for pictures and snacks at Antonio’s from 4:30 until 6:15 p.m. He will then lead the parade as Grand Marshal.

The parade route will begin at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church heading north down Maryland Avenue. The route will turn left onto NE Seventh Street until they reach N. St. Paul Avenue. Taking a left down St. Paul Avenue, the route will turn right onto Second Street NW. The parade route will end at the Fulda Senior Center.

Following the Parade of Lights will be a community movie on the big screen located at the Fulda High School gym. There will be no charge for the movie; free will donations will be accepted at the door. Concessions will be available during the movie.

It is the Community Club’s hope to get the whole community involved by not only having business floats and church and/or nonprofit organization floats, but also that families will join together to create illuminating block floats.

Registration forms are available at Fulda City Hall or at Maynard’s Grocery Store.

Entries need to be in by Monday, November 25th, and can be dropped off at Fulda City Hall with Michelle Baumhoefner or dropped off or sent to Tina Slaathaug at 613 East Lake Avenue, Fulda. A prize of $50 cash will be given to the first place winner in each category. Floats will be judged on creativity involving Christmas lights and decorations based on the theme “It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas.”

For questions, please contact Tina Slaathaug at 507-360-5007 or Holly Zins at 507-360-6958.
