City Council discusses water meter reading system

November 7, 2013

by Jerry Johnson
The Fulda City Council met Monday night November 4th for the regular city meeting. Dan McGrane of Dakota Supply Group showed the automatic water meter reading system that will allow a city employee to walk or drive by residences and read the water meters. It would also breakdown the hourly use and indicate if there was any utilities running constantly like a leaky faucet. Cost would be $6,500 for the handheld computer and software. The communication modules for each meter would be $195.00 each. The city would see a drop in there unaccountable water use of over 15 percent. No decision was made.

The September 7th meeting that approved the non-exempt, hourly position of the Police Chief position was discussed again and it was voted to make the e-mail from the city attorney public as it is without a formal letterhead.

The council set the interest rate 8 percent for five years for $8,000 plus in assessments on the Oddson Property

The annual price adjustment for the Schaap Sanitation Contract was approved. The increase is 16 cents for the 35 gallon cart, 22 cents for 65 gallon and 33 cents for the 95 gallon. The recycling service was increased 6 cents to $3.08.
