The Southwest Minnesota Fishing Club and Radio Works are pairing up to prepare for the 2014 Deep Freeze Dip.

This year's Dip is set for Saturday, January 18, during Worthington's annual Winterfest celebration. Brave souls will jump into the waters of Lake Okabena at Sunset Park beginning at 3:00 p.m.

Proceeds from the 2014 fund are going towards The Wayne Klumper Heals Fund, which will give money to the Sports and Rec Clubs in Worthington, Round Lake/ Brewster, Rushmore, and Adrian.

For the past couple of years, funds raised have helped second grade students learn to swim.

Klumper has spent most of his life promoting youth sports. Injured in a a life threatening motorcycle crash earlier this year, he has now returned home after a heroic comeback. “We feel inspired to help keep his drive for youth sports going!,” exclaimed co-director of the event Chad Cummings.

There are just a few simple rules involved in doing the dip, and volunteers are encouraged to become involved.

• You must be at least 18 years old to dip.

• You must raise at least $250 to jump.

• You must register at Radio Works and be issued an official pledge card.

• You must turn all money in at the Winterfest opening ceremony night on January 17 at the Hickory Lodge Banquet room.

All registered "dippers" will receive an official Deep Freeze Dip T-shirt. Pledge cards are available at Radio Works, 28779 County Highway 35, Worthington MN. Call 507-376-6165 if there are any further questions.

Let’s ‘DO THE DIP’ and raise funds for a great cause, the recreational programs in our communities.
