raises $2000 for new aerators

The Fulda City Council met Monday, August 4, for a regular meeting. The repair and maintenance of the water tower has been completed. The city is considering the purchase of a snow plow through the state program. No decision was made.

The Fulda Game and Fish Club raised approximately $2000 from their fundraiser for putting new aerators in Fulda lakes. The City Council voted to cover the cost of $4500 for the project until more funds can be raised.

The city and Bondin Township will split the cost of replacing a 36 inch culvert on South Lafayette Ave. The total cost of the project would be $18,020.60. Gass Trenching will be doing the work.

Richard Burud, general manager of Nobles Cooperative Electric representing SMEC, Southern Minnesota Energy Cooperative, the future owners of Alliant Energy presented an overview of the purchase. A seamless transition will happen sometime in January. Base rates will remain the same for three years after the purchase. Current Alliant Energy customers will receive a monthly credit equivalent to approximately two dollars per thousand kilowatt hours. Most employees will have a choice to go with the new company or remain with Alliant energy. Property and equipment will belong to Southern Minnesota Energy Cooperative.

The next regular council meeting will be September 2.
